With the Internet dominating and influencing a large part of our lives, particularly now with the work-from-home setup and the new social norm of social distancing as a result of the coronavirus pandemic and the second wave we are currently experiencing, more people are looking for ways to earn money online to supplement their income.

Physical internships at businesses are neither feasible nor ideal for high school and college students. They, too, are compelled to use the Internet. Here are a few options for such homebound teenagers to earn money and gain valuable experience during their summer vacations.

1. Freelancing

Doing freelance work, whether it's copywriting, translation, graphic design, video editing, app development, or marketing, is one of the simplest methods to make money. There are numerous websites, both Indian and international, that allow teenagers to earn money for their talents. Chegg India, Freelance India, Freelancer, Upwork, and Fiverr are just a few of them.

Join the site by registering with your name, e-mail, country name, and so on. Once your details are verified, your account will be created.

2. Instagram influencer

An influencer is someone who has a large number of online followers in a particular field or industry, such as gaming, food, beauty, fashion, or fitness. Instagram posts and videos, which are popular among teenagers and young people, can also help them earn a lot of money through sponsored posts, product reviews, brand promotion, photo selling, and other methods.

Select your niche field, something you are passionate about, have some kind of experience or expertise in, and a subject you can consistently post about.

3. Blogging/Vlogging

What was, till a few years ago, just a platform to give expression to one’s passions, is now a good way to earn money. By blogging about a specific topic of your interest, you can pull in readers or traffic, which in turn can translate into money. There are various ways in which you can earn through a blog or vlog on Youtube, such as ad placements via Google AdSense, affiliate marketing (promoting others’ products on your blog), doing product reviews, guest posts in others’ blogs, or product sales on your blog.)

4. Amazon Associates online (Affiliate Marketing)

Earning money through affiliate marketing while blogging is comparable to earning money through Amazon links and receiving a commission. Amazon Associates is an affiliate marketing programme that allows you to create links on your website or blog and earn referral fees when customers click on those links and purchase Amazon products. It's free to join and easy to use.

You can earn up to 10% in affiliate fee from the qualifying purchases and program.

5. Online surveys

Paid online surveys are one of the most basic ways for teenagers to make money. Swagbucks is a well-known website that pays for a variety of activities such as filling out surveys, watching videos, and shopping. Other survey sites include Toluna, Telly Pulse, CashCrate (a survey aggregator), ValuedOpinions, OpinionBureau, and Streetbrite.

How to do it?

Step 1: Register with the website and provide basic personal information to create an account.
Step 2: You will receive the surveys via your registered e-mail address.
Step 3: Complete as many surveys as you can, and the points will be credited to your account. You may reclaim these as you see fit.

6. Design t-shirts online

You can earn money by designing t-shirt designs if you have an artistic flair. You can do so on a variety of websites, both domestic and international. You are only required to contribute the design and are not responsible for the t-manufacturing, shirt's sale, or shipping. TeeShopper, The Souled Store, and My Home Store are some Indian sites, while TeeSpring, Zazzle, and other international sites are also available.

7. Rent, sell books, online tutoring, project work

This is probably the simplest way to earn some extra money if you enjoy reading or are academically gifted. You can rent out your books, sell textbooks from previous school years, tutor other children online, and help them with their project work. You can also make money by teaching or selling courses on websites like Udacity, Udemy, or Lynda, or by signing up for online tutoring services.

How to do it ?

Step 1: Before you can use online tutoring sites, you must first register with them. You will then be evaluated through an online interview or demo, and if you pass, you will be hired.
Step 2: All you need to become an online tutor is a computer or laptop, an Internet connection, and knowledge of your subject.

8. Storytelling via podcasts

If you have good oratory skills and enjoy telling stories, you can make money. A podcast is a digital audio or video file collection that can be downloaded and listened to. With nearly 200 million monthly active users, 40 podcast companies, and a steady increase in users triggered by Covid lockdowns, audiobooks and storey reading have taken off.
